Knocking when cold

Post by jonjesney »

When I first start my B1 up the engine knocks a bit. It seems to go away once it has warmed up a bit.

Do they all do this? Should I be worried?

Oh no your joking right.... it looks like you will have to listen to the engine and let us know which side and where abouts the noise is coming from. Its probably :?

What is that bit? Sounds like it is coming from the bottom right had side (accelerator side)?

Sorry just getting you going a bit, its a common symptom with these bikes, there is a manual chain adjuster and an auto one, the auto one has run out of adjustment and the manual one needs adjusting (normally set to zero at the factory), never done one myself but an easy job to do by all accounts, when it sounds like a ducati it needs doing, other wise don't worry too much.
Bobtheimp will know, and I'll look for the info Taffffy wrote up about it on bikersoracle.

Found it here ye go,
Taffffy is a bike mech who runs his own shop and has a B model so you can rely on the info, and you can always ask him for advise.

You sh*t face!!!!

I have spent the whole day worrying about wondering if I need to rebuild it!

Huge sigh of releif.

Header pipes arrived today but they were delivered next door and they are out so I can't look at them and stroke them!
