16000 mile service
On the C1 - how much should i expect to pay for this main service? I believed it is valve clearance time, but what else is done? Also, when do you suggest changing plugs?

Several hundred pounds,
Fairings need to come off.
Seats and tank.
Carbs and cam cover.
Cams will have to come out as I would think at least a couple of shims will need changeing.
Oil & Filter change.
Coolant change.
Fork oils will need changing.
Brake fluid change.
Head bearings would probably need a greasing up.
Like wise swingarm.
It may also be ready for a new chain and sprocket set.
Wheel bearing may need a greasing up to.
So all in all just about everything.
and worst of all you can't be sure a garage would do all that. Best to do it all yourself.

Re: 16000 mile service
I could probably do most of that, except the shim changes, though maybe i'm underestimating myself. One quote I have is for around £450. Oil'n'filter very recently done as is the brake fluid. Chain good plus it has recent sprockets. Coolant looks clean but would change it anyway. So i guess at the worst i will just have to pay for the valve clearances to be done.yorkie wrote:Several hundred pounds,
