Cylinder head crack
Well folks, after about 6 weeks of waiting it looks like the mechanic has finally pulled his finger out of his ass and decided to sort my B1 out (head gasket job).
I've been promised I can ride it out of the garage tomorrow which is great as I plan to take it over to England on the boat from the Isle of Man on Saturday, however, the head needed skimming and the mechanic says there is a tiny hairline crack about 2mm long but assures me this will be ok and its nothing to worry about. Can anyone confirm this for me as with all the empty promises I've had over the last 6 weeks I can't help but to think this is too good to be true.
Thanks folks!

Re: Cylinder head crack
To be honest I was so stoked at the prospect of finally getting the thing back I didnt ask exactly where the crack was and I wouldnt say he's having it welded, as I said I'm under the impression its more a surface mark and if he was having the thing welded he'd be shouting it from the roof tops and would probably make me wait 2 months!
Sorry I cant really give you much info, guess I have no option but to take this guy's word.

Re: Cylinder head crack
ye sounds more like a score rather than a crack or else i think he would be having more work done [weld]

Re: Cylinder head crack
Thanks for the input.
I'll post some pics as soon as I can once I get it back. Its pretty standard apart from a micron system, nothing fancy just cheap and cheerful but its always been a dream of mine to own a bike like this, really looking forward to actually being able to ride it
