Cheers Mat and Ridesafe for the offer of shims, I'll be measuring the gaps accurately this week sometime, so if youre happy then I'll post on this thread the sizes (if any) I need.

Good ole thread though, keep up the banter, love it.

I'm off to W'spoons for a pint and a fight.

I've got the fork seal driver and used the chain riveting method from the m/cycle section there and a lovely job they did too, thanks for the link I'll be going through the lot later. =D> H

it was posted on a lesser quality forum yesterday and seems quite apt. joking aside there are some clever bits of kit in there - quite like the mobile vice stand using a car tire filled with cement!

Just completed the cylinder head swop and I had enough shims in the damaged cylinder head to replace those on the replacement head to ensure correct tolerances.

As I had a spare engine, i did the 4 degree ignition advance DIY job too, we shall see if it all works when its put back in the frame.

So, engines all back together now and all seems good.........that means theres no spare parts which is always a bonus.

NO SHIMS REQUIRED THANKS.

Just got to reassemble the bike after xmas now then Ill post up some piccys.

Tolerances were in the middle of the range as specified in the C and E table in the front of the Haynes manual, re checked after installation.

Inlet were .18 to .20 mm

Ex were .24 to . 27 mm

BOC was Yorkies recommendation for Draper feeler gauges.
