I used one of these so I could unplug the system and fit it to another bike quickly or when selling. Put this into google to find the jumper cable. Acumen DG8 Digital Gear Indicator Harness Loom Connector.

As all zx9's are all slightly different, and I get fed up having to ask which model & number, as year may not be accurate.

Gents does anyone know if the harness plug in yorkie's picture has a name? I'm trying to match it to make my own cable. I even have a spare (complete) loom from my breaker but that very plug I need has been damaged! Bummer.

Can't ID it from Cornwall, either. Seems to be the loom is a single part?

That looks like a good match! Thanks yorkie. I checked the site but couldn't find a matching female plug? I'm trying to make my own loom like yours in your original post.

I found generic 16pin connectors on ebay but that'd mean splicing the generic connector in to the OEM loom, then making the DGV adaptor loom. At this point that's too much hassle and I think I might just splice straight into OEM and call it a day! :-)

I finally got around to installing this. After putting it off for well over a year the whole job took maybe three hours start to finish, and that's with me going slow time and soldering the splice joins, etc.

Thought I'd share some install pics. Here's the DGV loom with the six colour wires coming out. Two went into the ignition harness and the other four into the dash loom.

It took some messing around to calibrate the indicator. That's because I didn't read the instructions too closely and missed the part that says "IMPORTANT: MUST READ THIS..." about you needing to put it in to neutral after selecting first.

The voltmeter was staying on well past one minute. After messing around to check wires a quick google found other folks had the same problem and it's from the PE sensor on the DGV needing to register bright light (can't work that out). Once it gets some sunlight or a torch on the face of the DGV it'll start the internal clock and you're good to go.

And here's some info from Mr Haynes. If it helps you, do yourself a favour and buy their book. It's excellent, and it's cheap as chips.

Fabbed a bracket out of 1mm strip aluminium. Used 3M locking tape to attach it to the clocks and double sided automotive tape to fix the DGV to the bracket. Held up over bumpy road at 90mph.
