After a few too many years I'm finally getting my ZX9R e1 fixed up, it's sat with a bit of damage but I'm getting there or at least I was - took the bike to be MOT'd on Saturday and it failed on sticky front brakes. Fixing the brakes......I dropped it and SMASHED the front fairing!!!!! Totally gutted, so now looking for a replacement if you can point me in the right direction anyone? And as if this wasn't bad enough, went to go for a spin to test the brakes and the meta alarm/immobiliser won't disable - raging! - I've changed the fob battery and taken out the bike battery overnight - no luck - any advice? TIA Rab ](*,)

Best of luck on your repair quest. Hopefully some of the U.K. guys can help you out.

Welcome to the forum.

As E1 says, it's not easy to find fairing parts. Unless you have LOTS of money, then you can get a new fairing part for a few hundred pounds - when I looked at it several months, to fix the scratches on mine by replacing the scratched parts would be about £1300. I won't get that for the entire bike (with NEW fairings)

Unless you are paying thousands for the insurance, I would just remove the alarm. It's not trivial, but not very hard either - you have to trace some wires into the wiring harness, and find pairs of wires that have been cut, going into the alarm and another wire going into the other side of the same colour wire (e.g. a blue & green wire should join with the other side of the blue & green wire) - leave a couple of inches of the alarm wire, so you have some extra wire to join up with. Use a soldering iron to join the wires. You'll probably want to put some 2.5mm shrink tubing over the joint, but if desperate, black electrical tape will work.

There will probably also be some wires that connect to the indicators - just cut those off (you'll notice those are not actually CUT, just a wire from the alarm joining the wiring loom.

There are posts, search the forum for alarm removal or some such, for posts with pictures and descriptions. Your alarm may not be identical to the description, but the method is the same (I found one that said "the pink wires from the alarm do X, the green wires do Y ...", well, mine only had black, on every of the 10 or so wires coming out of the alarm.
