yup, they're bloody great. i did the same (swapped from Storms to the VP2's) the extra grip is phenominal, not too bad in the rain either.

don't think they'll last as well as the storms tho, despite Avons claims.

Picking up my ZX9 at the W/end, going to change to Avon's from the crappy tyres on the bike at the moment, not sure whether to go for the new Storm Ultra 2 or the VP2. Your thoughts?

To be honest alot depends on how you use your bike...and if you use it all weathers...the storm 2 is a sports touring tyre and will give you really good grip in the dry but even better for the wet...also it will last alot longer than the vp2...however i have no intrest in being out when its wet..and if i am caught out in the rain i ride like a pussy anyway!! big grin  so dry grip was my only priority really...the vp2 is a softer compound so the dry grip is stunning!! you will not get the milage from the vp2...but for me...it was about confidence building...and the vp 2 gave me so much confdence on corners and roundabouts...

i couldnt get them to slip whatever i did...youll love em!! big grin

Thanks for info, think I think I will go for the VP2 as don't really like riding in the wet especially now the road are so full of pot holes. I had to use my old bike a lot in the winter as needed to use it to and fro to work, now taken the easy option and got a car from those winter months.

I had the storms on my old SV650. I just spoke with Avon and they say the VP2 should be better in damp weather over the storms, whereby the storm would be better in full on rain due to the tread pattern shifting more water faster.

Do the VP2 heat up fairly quickly?

Cheers Dave

I stuck a VP2 on the front end of mine before travelling to the ring last summer, lots of motorway miles after fitting and its held up well.
Left a nearly new storm on the rear as i've always been happy with em, grip has never been a problem wet or dry so cant see any reason to change and pay more for summit i wont use that will wear quicker. They work very well together so i noticed very little handling probs etc

I've just had some 'Storm ST 2 Ultras' fitted. According to the tyre chappies at Wheelhouse Tyres in Coleshill, the softer edge compound on the '2 Ultras' is the same as that on the VP2s, there's just more grooves to assist in water dispersal (and a longer life centre-compound obviously). VP2's will look sportier as they have less grooves etc but the 2 Ultras are gonna last twice as long. Best of both worlds.

Just ordered the VP2 today, getting them fitted tomorrow. Can't wait to try them out!!  looking forward to getting rid on the Concrete tyres (Michelin Macadams 90x) which are on the bike.  These where on it when I brought the bike, just looked at the manufacturing date and they where made in 2002.

I've just fitted a pair of these VP'2 on the zx-12r, I've not been out on them yet maybe tomorrow. I would of gone for 2CT's but they don't make em big enough.

He must of fitted a 190 rear then, or they've just started to make 200's.
